The volume's own earlier page is the key to this unmarked one. Ariditas mea, ariditas mea! væ mihi! is the shape of Isaiah's my leanness, my leanness, woe unto me, with the book's own noun set into it — and printed 335 is where that noun was fastened to that verse, in a brace reading woe is me { for my dryness, [Is. xxiv. 16] / for my hardness of heart, / for the drought of my eyes, [Jer. ix. 1] }. Two of the three come back on this leaf with no reference at all — the dryness here, the fountain of tears eight lines down. A concordance made from the plate's marks would join neither.
