1For the Catholic Church,

2For the Churches throughout the whole world,

3to wit, for their truth, unity, and stedfastness.

4In all let charity flourish, let truth live.

5For our own Church,

6That what is wanting in her may be supplied,[Titus 1:5]i

7what is not right, corrected,

8That all Heresies, Schisms, Offences,

9public and private alike, may be done away.

10Correct them that err,

11Convert the unbelieving,

12Increase the faith of the Church,

13Destroy heresies,

14The enemies, { the crafty expose, / the violent crush. }

15For the Clergy:

16that they divide aright,

17that they walk with upright foot,

18that, teaching others, / they themselves may learn { ὀρθοτομεῖν — to divide aright, [2 Tim. 2:15] / ὀρθοποδεῖν — to walk aright. [Gal. 2:14] }ii

19For the People:

20that it be not wise above that it ought,[Rom. 12:3]iii

21but be persuaded by reason,

22and yield to the authority of them set over it.

23For the Commonwealths:

24{ for their stedfastness / and / peace. }

25For the Realm,

26the Borough,

1our City,

2that they may fare well and blessedly,

3and be delivered from all peril and harm.

4For the King:

5O Lord, save him,הושיעה נא — Save now.

7With the shield of truth and of good pleasure crown him,

8speak good things unto his heart,

9for the sake of Thy Church and of Thy people.

10For the prudence of Counsellors,

11the equity and integrity of Judges,

12the valour of the Army,

13the temperance of the People,

14their holy simplicity.

15For the rising generation,

16whether in the Universities,

17or in the Schools;

18That, as in years, they may likewise grow

19both in wisdom and in favour,

20with God and men.

21For those who shew themselves bountiful,

22whether toward { sacred things, / the poor and needy. }

23Render unto them sevenfold into their bosom,[Ps. 79:13]ii

24Let their souls dwell at ease in good things,

25and let their seed inherit the land.[Ps. 25:12]iii

26Blessed are they that consider the poor and needy.[Ps. 41:1]iv

271. That to all our benefactors Thou wouldest render eternal

28good things;

29For the benefits they have bestowed upon us on earth,

1that they may obtain eternal rewards in the heavens;

22. That the miseries of the poor and of the captives

3Thou wouldest vouchsafe to regard and relieve;

43. That the frail fallings of the flesh with kindly

6and stay up them that are slipping;

106. That Thou wouldest vouchsafe to turn back the eyes of mercy upon us;

117. That our souls, and the souls of our kinsfolk, from

138. That with these for whom I have prayed,

14or in any wise am bound to pray,

15and with all the people of God,

16it may be granted me to be brought into Thy Kingdom,

17there to appear in righteousness,

18and to be satisfied with glory;

19We beseech Thee,

20Hear us, O Lord.

22Let Thy works praise Thee, O God,

24It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord,
