1O THOU that hearest the prayer,

2unto Thee shall all flesh come,[Ps. 65:2]i

3In the evening, and morning, and at noon-day,

4will I declare and tell it forth,

5and Thou shalt hear my voice.[Ps. 55:17]ii

6Unto Thee, O Lord, will I pray betimes in the morning:

7in the morning shalt Thou hear my voice.[Ps. 5:3]iii

8Let my prayer be set forth

9as the incense in Thy sight.[Ps. 141:2]iv

10In the morning-watches, O Lord, will I meditate upon Thee,

11because Thou hast been my helper.[Ps. 63:7–8]v

12I give Thee thanks, O Lord, almighty, everlasting God, who

13hast this night, not by my own merits, but of Thy holy

14mercy, vouchsafed to keep me.Grant me, O

15Lord, so to pass this day in Thy holy service,

16that the obedience of my servitude may be pleasing unto Thee.

17I lift up my heart with my hands unto the Lord in the heavens.[Lam. 3:41]vi

18Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters,

19and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress,

20So our eyes wait upon the Lord our God, until

21He have mercy upon us.[Ps. 123:2]vii

22O look Thou upon me, and be merciful unto me,

1Give Thy angels charge over me, that they keep me in Thy ways.

3Shew me Thy ways, O Lord,

5Order my steps according to Thy word,

7Direct my steps in Thy paths,

9Put a right word in my mouth, and well-sounding,

10that all my words may be pleasing,

11and my countenance, and bearing, and all my works,

12to all men that see and hear me,

13that I may find favour in all my words and pe-

14titions.

20From the remembrance of evils,

21that of those things which I have seen or heard

22from the wicked, in this world I may not remember,

23nor ever tell to others;

24that I may hate every wicked way.

25I have deserved death,

26yet still I appeal from the throne of Thy justice,

27to the throne of Thy grace.
