2IN the morning shall my prayer

3come before thee.i

4Blessed art thou, O Lord,

5who broughtest forth out of the earth the beasts, and the cattle,

6and every creeping thing,ii

7for { food, / covering, / help; }

8and madest man

9after thine image,iii

10to have dominion over the earth,

11and blessedst him.

12The forethought,iv

13the handiwork,v

14the breath of life,vi

15the image of God,

16the setting over thy works,vii

17the charge to the angels concerning him,viii

18Paradise.ix

19Heart, | Life, | that which may be known of God,

20Reins, | Sense, | the writing of the Law,

21Eyes, | Reason, | the oracles of the Prophets,

22Ears, | Spirit, | the melody of Psalms,

23Tongue, | Free will, | the admonition of Proverbs,

1Hands, | Memory, | the experience of histories,

2Feet, | Conscience. | the worship of sacrifices.

3Blessed art thou, O Lord,

4for thy great and precious promise

5(on this day)i

6concerning the life-giving seed;ii

7and for that, in the fulness of times,

8thou didst fulfil it,iii

9on this day.

10Blessed art thou, O Lord,

11for the holy sufferings

12of this day.

13O by thy saving sufferings,

14on this day,

15save us, O Lord.

16I have withstood thee, O Lord, but I turn again unto thee;

17I have grown weak in mine iniquities,iv

18but I take with me words,

19and turn to thee, saying,

20Take away all iniquity, and receive my prayer,

21so will I render thee the fruit of my lips.v

22Spare, O Lord, spare,

23and give not thine heritage

24to reproach, to thine enemies.vi

25O Lord, O Lord, be merciful, cease, I pray;

26who shall raise up Jacob?

27for he is small.

28Repent, O Lord, concerning this,

1and this shall not be.i

2They that observe lying vanities

3forsake their own mercy.ii

4and I am cast out of thy sight.

5And when my soul fainted within me,

6I remembered the Lord.

7I will look yet again toward thy holy temple.

8let my life come up from corruption.iii

9Who is a God like unto thee, that passeth by iniquity

10for the remnant of thine heritage?

11thou wilt not keep thine anger for ever for a testimony,

12for thou delightest in mercy.iv

13Turn again, and have compassion on us, O Lord;

14subdue our iniquities.

15And cast into the depths of the sea

16all our sins

17according to thy truth, and according to thy mercy,

18thy mercy.

19O Lord, I have heard thy speech,

20and was afraid;v

21I considered thy works,

22and was astonished.

23In wrath remember mercy.

24Behold me, O Lord, clothed with filthy garments,

25behold the devil standing at my right hand;vi

26and, O Lord, by the blood of thy covenant,vii

27by the fountain opened

28for sprinkling, for all uncleanness,

29take away from me mine iniquities,

30and purge away my sins;viii

3Father, forgive me; for I know not,

22the back with the weals of scourges

24the hands and feet pierced through,ix

25the strong cry, Eli, Eli,x

26the heart pierced with the spear,

27the water and blood flowing forth,

28the body broken,xi

29the blood shed; }xii

30O Lord, forgive the iniquities of thy servant,

31cover all his sins.xiii

1Make all thine anger to cease,

2turn away from the fierceness of thy wrath,

3Turn me, O God of our salvation,i

4and cause thine anger toward us to cease.

5Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? or

6wilt thou draw out thine anger from generation to generation?

7O God, thou wilt turn and quicken us,

8and thy people shall rejoice in thee.

9Shew us thy mercy, O Lord,

10and grant us thy salvation.

8I BELIEVE:

9That thou hast created me;

10the work of thy hands

11despise not.ii

12That thou madest me after thine image and likeness;iii

13thy likeness

14suffer not to be blotted out.

15That thou hast redeemed me with thy blood;iv

16the price of the ransom

17suffer not to be lost.

18That thou hast named me a Christian after thy name;

19thy surname

20despise not.

21That thou hast sanctified me in regeneration;v

22thy hallowing

23destroy not.

24That thou hast grafted me into the good olive tree,vi

25a member of the mystical body;vii

26the member of thy mystical body

27cut not off.

1Remember thy word unto thy servant,

2upon which thou hast caused me to hope.i

3My soul fainteth for thy salvation,

4but I hope in thy word.

5For the prospering and strengthening

6of all the Christ-loving army,

7against the enemies of our most holy faith.

8For our fathers in holiness,

9and all our brotherhood in Christ.

10For them that hate and that love us.

11For them that pity and that minister unto us.

12For those whom we have promised to hold in remembrance

13in our prayers.

14For the deliverance of the captives.

15For our fathers and brethren that are absent.

16For them that sail upon the sea.

17For them that lie in sickness.

18Let us pray also for the plenteousness of the fruits of the earth;

19and for every soul of orthodox Christians.

20Let us call blessed the godly kings,

21the orthodox high-priests,

22the founders of this holy dwelling,

23our parents,

24And all the forefathers gone before

25and our brethren.

26Let there be for me, O Lord, alway

27thy mighty hand

28for a defence,

1Thy mercy in Christ

2unto salvation,

3thy all-true word

4unto instruction,

5the grace of thy life-bearing Spirit

6unto comfort,

7unto the end and at the end.

8The soul | hallow

9the body | strengthen

10the blood | redeem

11the water | wash

12the stripe | heal

13the sweat | refresh

14the wound | hide

15The peace of God,

16which passeth all understanding,

17keep my heart,

21Thou who, when man had transgressed thy commandment,

22and was fallen,

23didst not overlook nor forsake him, O good one,

24but didst visit him in many ways,

25as a tender-hearted father,

26granting him thy great

27and precious promise,ii

28concerning the life-giving seed,

29opening to him the door of faithiii

1and of repentance unto life,i

2And in the fulness of times

3sending thy Christ himself,

4to take hold of the seed of Abraham,ii

5and in the offering of his life

6to fulfil the obedience of the law,

7and in the sacrifice of death

8to bear away its curse,iii

9and in his death

10to redeem the world,

11and in his resurrection

12to quicken it;

13Thou who doest all things,

14so as to bring back our race unto thee,

15and of thy divine nature and eternal gloryiv

16to make it partaker;

17Thou who barest witness together to the truth

18of thy gospel,

19with many and divers powers;v

20In the ever-memorable manner of life of

21thy saints,

22in the surpassing endurance of torments,

23in the most wondrous conversion

24of the whole world,

25unto the obedience of faith,vi

26without power, persuasion, or force,

27Blessed, praised, hymned,

28magnified, exalted, glorified,

29hallowed

30be thy name,

1the remembrance, and memorial,

2and every memorial thereof,

3both now

4and unto the ages.

5Worthy art thou to take the book,

6and to open the seals thereof,

7for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God

8by thy blood,

9out of every kindred, and tongue,

10and people, and nation.i

11Worthy is the Lamb that was slain

12to receive power, and riches, and wisdom,

13and strength, and honour, and glory,

14and blessing.

15Unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb,

16blessing, and honour, and glory, and power,

17unto the ages of ages,

18Amen.

19Salvation to our God

20who sitteth upon the throne,

21and unto the Lamb,

24and thanksgiving, and honour,

25and power, and might,
